Large scale search for wanted Scunthorpe man
Police aircraft and around 20 vehicles have been used as part of a large-scale search for a wanted man in Scunthorpe on Thursday.
Residents also reported seeing armed police and dog units.
The man and five other people were subsequently located and arrested after the search ended on Chesterfield Road.
The search for the 31-year-old suspect drew the attention of the public as low flying police aircraft went across the area.
The aircraft, fitted with state-of-the-art cameras, was dispatched from the National Police Air Service base in Doncaster.
It is alleged to have circled low over the town for around half an hour.
Humberside Police have subsequently confirmed that a search was carried out for a 31-year-old man who was wanted by police.
A spokesperson said:
“Officers carried out enquiries in the Fairways area of Scunthorpe yesterday afternoon as part of searches for an outstanding wanted man.
“Colleagues from the National Police Air Service assisted the search, which resulted in a 31-year-old wanted man being arrested along with five other men all on suspicion of drugs related offences.
“All six remain in our custody while our enquiries continue.”
Five other people who were arrested were wanted in connection with drugs-related offences.
It has not been specified why the 31-year-old man was wanted.
All six remain custody today.
