It has been revealed that the partner of a woman found dead at her home in Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Claire Anderson, 35, was found unconscious in a property on Thorne Road at around 9.30pm on Saturday, July 11.

She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

South Yorkshire Police announced that a 38-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was later released under investigation, and took to Facebook to admit that he has been arrested and interviewed.

He posted:

“I was what some might call Claire’s ‘partner’ only because having met her in Australia I realised she was a force of nature.

“Yes, I was arrested on caution of murder because I went to her house after not hearing from her for 36 hours.

“Her parents asked me to and I’m glad I found her, not them.

“Yes I was arrested on caution of murder. You would be to if you had have found her, it’s procedure. I was free hours later.

“Claire was a shining light in the community. Make sure it stays that way.”

A postmortem returned inconclusive results.

A Doncaster man, identified as the partner of the murder victim, was arrested in connection with her death.

He has since been released.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Claire’s death, and trying to establish her movements in the days before.
