Tributes paid to man found on Hull street

Tributes have been paid after a man discovered dead near a Hull primary school was named as Gary Irvine.

His body was discovered at around 10pm on Monday evening near to Clifton Primary School on Waterloo Street.

This led to a large police presence in the area.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed:

“We can confirm that sadly a body has been found on Waterloo Street on Monday night.

“Inquiries are in their very early stages.

“However, the family of the deceased has been informed and are being supported by the police. We will not be sharing any further details at this time.

“The circumstances of the death are not thought to be suspicious.”

Mr Irvine is survived by eight children and seven grandchildren.

His son Lemmy Irvine said:

“My dad was the sweetest loving kind funny caring dad. He was loved by so many and we all miss him.”

Family friend Donna Ellerington has set up a gofundme page to help the family with funeral arrangements.

She wrote:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances his family are not in the right financial situation to afford it all on their own.

“So I’m looking for any kind of donations even the smallest of donation will make all the difference to all his children.”
