Road closure warning as landmark Grimsby bridge to undergo work
Grimsby’s landmark Corporation Bridge is to undergo maintenance work.
Town centre traffic will be disrupted during the operation, which will involve a six-hour road closure.
The routine maintenance work will include the oiling and cleaning of the mechanical parts and a trial run of the lifting mechanism.
The works will be carried out on Monday, August 17 and will take one day to complete.
To ensure the works are completed safely, a full road closure will be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
The section of Corporation Road affected by the road closure will be between the mini roundabout at the entrance to Alexandra Retail Park and the junction with Victoria Street.
Advanced warning signs will be in place and diversions will be signposted. Businesses in the area have been informed.
Pedestrians and cyclists will generally be allowed across the bridge, but there will be short periods of times when this is not possible.
North East Lincolnshire Council’s regeneration partner ENGIE will manage and oversee the maintenance with Fairfield Control Systems completing the works.
North East Lincolnshire Council, ENGIE, and Fairfield Control Systems would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during the works.
