Drugs and cash found after Scunthorpe police chase

A 45-year-old man in Scunthorpe has been arrested following a police chase resulted in the discovery of class A drugs and cash.

He has subsequently been charged with several crimes.

Officers spotted the vehicle travelling erratically down Manor Road on Monday evening.

After a short chase, the suspect abandoned his vehicle, which was seized and found to contain a large quantity of suspected cocaine, heroin and around £5,000 in cash.

This sparked a police chase on foot.

The man cut through several private gardens before police eventually caught up with him.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

While in custody, officers arrested him on additional charges of money laundering, driving without insurance and a further traffic offence, alongside his drug charge.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said:

“The man was seen to run through multiple gardens and disturb a lot of residents in the area.

“We want to thank these members of the public that assisted us by giving us access through their properties and gardens, which resulted in his subsequent arrest.

“We want to offer reassurance to the community that this is believed to have been an isolated incident.”

The 45-year-old man has been released under investigation.
