Warning over killer crack cocaine in Grimsby

An urgent warning about a crack cocaine-type drug has been issued in Grimsby after a death and two people becoming seriously ill in the last week.

Humberside Police fear contaminated batches of drugs or ones with unusual potency levels are circulating in the area.

Chief Inspector Rhod Troake said: “Investigations into a man’s death and two women who were hospitalised due to suspected drug use are in their early stages, however we are considering the possibility that they could have been caused by either contaminated batches of drugs or unusual potency levels.

“In all three cases a ziploc style bag, with the outline of what appears to be a black Pitbull on, was located at the scene, which is believed to have contained the drugs prior to them being taken.

“We believe the drugs are being sold as crack cocaine and forensic analysis is taking place to identify the substances, with various enquiries underway as to how the drugs have come to be in circulation and where from.

“In line with public health advice, we would advise people to please be cautious and to seek medical attention immediately if they feel unwell or experience any unusual symptoms.

“Further guidance and advice for those concerned about drug use is available at https://www.wearewithyou.org.uk/
