Occupants flee scene of major collision in Grimsby

Humberside Police are investigating after a three-car collision which occurred on Cleethorpe Road shortly before 10pm on Sunday.

It was reported to police at around 10:20.

The crash resulted in a three-hour road closure between Riby Square and the Jet petrol station.

Officers have now revealed that the occupants of a black Hyundai which was driven into two parked cars fled the scene of the incident.

Three cars were involved: a white Audi A1, a black Kia Rio and a silver Toyota Aurus.

All three were damaged before being removed by recovery vehicles.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said:

“We are investigating a three car road traffic collision on Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby, reported to us at 10.20pm last night, Sunday 9 August.

“It was reported to us that a black Hyundai had driven into two parked vehicles, with the occupants then fleeing the scene in a black Vauxhall Zafira.

“Thankfully no-one was injured in the collision.

“We would ask anyone who hasn’t already spoken with us to come forward, as they may be able to help with our ongoing enquiries.

“This can be done by calling our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 637 of 9 August 2020.”

Fortunately, nobody is reported to have been injured as a result of the incident.
