A notorious thief from Scunthorpe has landed himself behind bars again following his most recent £900 shoplifting spree.

Michael Proietti, 30, has a long history of terrorising the town’s high street, specialises in the theft of high-value printer cartridges.

He has recently been released from prison following an earlier sentence that was one of the longest ever imposed at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court.

But now, Proitetti is in custody once again, having been sentenced to an additional 16 weeks.

Appearing at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court again, he admitted stealing printer cartridges, valued at £900, from Sainsbury’s in York on June 25.

He also pled guilty to stealing a bottle of window cleaner from Lidl in Scunthorpe on August 4, and admitted breaching a 12-week suspended prison sentence imposed for attempted theft.

A previous court appearance saw Proitetti jailed for 44 weeks in relation to three other instances of theft.

On that occasion, he was found to have stolen goods valued at £4,282, from Asda and Sainsbury’s in Scunthorpe.
