Flood fears in Cleethorpes
A burst water main has caused severe disruption in one of the busiest areas of Cleethorpes today (Tuesday).
Emergency services were called to Daubney Street at around lunchtime due to flooding at the junction with Grimsby Road.
Humberside Police said the appropriate agencies had been advised and asked people to avoid the area until it was cleared.
Fears were high that nearby properties could be at risk, especially with severe weather forecast.
Anglian Water had a team of engineers on the scene.
An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “Our teams are currently working to repair a burst water main at the junction of Grimsby Road and Daubney Street in Cleethorpes, however no customers supplies have been affected.
“A road closure is currently in place for the safety of our staff who are working in the area.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we’d like to thank local residents and road users for their patience while we complete these repairs.”
