Detectives for Humberside Police are investigating a reported assault in Grimsby’s Old Market Place earlier this week.

The reported attack is said to have happened in Grimsby Town Centre shortly after midnight on Monday 7 September when a group, consisting of two men and two women, were approached by two other men.

It is alleged that the pair chased the men from the group before assaulting one of them with a weapon.

The victim was left with what is thought to be minor injuries.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

Two men have been arrested and subsequently released under investigation.

A spokesperson for the force said:

“Anyone with information about the assault are asked to call our non-emergency 101 line quoting log 8 of 7 September.

“Alternatively you can report information anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
