Serious incident closes M180

Emergency services are in attendance, but it is currently unclear whether anybody has been injured in the incident.

Road users are advised to expect disruption and delays of up to 10 minutes due to the carriageway closure, and to allow extra journey time.

Diversions have been put in place by Highways England and local police forces.

Guidance is as follows:

Exit the M180 at J2 and follow the solid black diamond diversion symbols on road signs.

At J2 turn right onto A161 and proceed along this road for approximately 1 mile to the roundabout with the A18.

At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A18 and proceed westbound along this road for approximately 6 miles to rejoin the M180 at J1.

The motorway is expected to clear by around 15:15 this afternoon.
