Fatal collision on A15

Humberside Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision on the A15 at Elsham, North Lincolnshire.

On Wednesday 30 September, the A15 was closed following a two-vehicle crash.

Officers were called to the scene at around 7:22pm, after a tractor and a Toyota Corolla were said to have collided.

The road was closed, and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

It was initially reported that there were no serious injuries.

However, the driver of the Toyota, a 65-year-old man who has not been publicly identified, suffered serious injuries.

Sadly, he died in hospital two days later.

Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership are now calling for new speed limit restrictions to be put in place following 14 separate accidents in the area in the past five years.

In support of the lower speed limit, Councillor Graham Arnold, said:

“Reducing the speed limit to 40mph would be much better but anything that reduces the speed of traffic is a blessing.

“I have seen some serious accidents and quite a lot of knocks.

“People have come out of the village onto the main road then someone comes around the corner, sometimes as fast as 80mph, and there’s no chance to get out of the way.”

Officers are now appealing for witnesses in relation to the incident on 30 September.

If you believe you can help, please call Humberside Police’s non-emergency 101 line, quoting log number 497 of 30 September.
