Bin days set to change in Scunthorpe

Changes to waste collection days in Scunthorpe will affect more than 500 homes.

The changes are for residents living in Crosby & Park and Town wards, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the service.

They will take effect from Monday, November 2, with residents living in this area encouraged to check their collection calendars, which will be delivered in the next few weeks, or the council website, to ensure they don’t miss their bin day.

Waste and recycling staff have been meeting residents in the community to keep them informed of the changes, which coincide with the launch of a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of recycling and waste disposal.

Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for environment and strategic planning, said: “We are always striving to improve our services. We have listened to feedback, both from residents living in Crosby & Park and Town wards, and our recycling collectors on the ground, and have made a change to our waste collection days in this area.

“The change will make it easier for residents to dispose of their waste, and focus collections into fewer days, providing greater clarity for local communities. It will also help our team to make their collections in a more structured and efficient way.

“We continue to give residents more choice in managing their waste. There are lots of different options available, so people have the flexibility to pick what meets the needs of their family.

“This includes the opportunity to increase the size of either a burgundy or brown recycling bin by decreasing the size of your general waste bin.”
