Cleethorpes residents are being urged to share their views on whether a special parking zone should be introduced in the town centre after a survey has been extended.

North East Lincolnshire Council is considering introducing a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) in an area stretching between Isaac’s Hill and Queens Parade, and from Alexandra Road to Fair View Avenue and Wollaston Road.

Most of the area is currently free parking for an unlimited time, which residents claim is causing them major problems such as not being able to find a spot near their homes for long periods, due to shoppers, workers and visitors staying put all day.

Residents received a letter in early September providing an opportunity to have their say on the issue, with a web link to access the survey.

A CPZ permits local authorities to put restrictions in place to allow residents to be able to park closer to their properties, unaffected by shoppers, tourists and commuters.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “We appreciate the frustration of local residents unable to park close to their home and have started the process to be able to support them with the issue.

“It is key that as many affected residents as possible complete the survey so Highway Officers can fully understand their views and develop the best possible option.”

He added: “We have extended the survey, so please take the opportunity to share your views. I remain committed to working with local residents and the officers involved to help develop a solution to this issue. Local residents should be able to park close to their homes without unnecessary disruption.”

The following links allow access to the survey dependent on the type of area:

Only complete the survey if you received the initial letter.

If you are unable to access the online survey or require a paper copy contact the Traffic Team on (01472) 32 6300 (Option 2 for Roads, Footpaths and Drains) or email traffic@nelincs.gov.uk.

Further details about the CPZ will be shared as the scheme progresses and further consultation and engagement is required.
