Tragedy follows Grimsby collision

A man has tragically died following a collision on Bargate in Grimsby, Humberside Police have now confirmed.

The incident took place on the morning of Thursday 8 October, at around 11am.

A red Vauxhall Corsa and a white Fiat 500 are said to have collided at the junction with Deansgate.

The collision resulted in a partial closure of Bargate, near Deansgate Bridge.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver of one of the vehicles being lifted from a car by emergency services.

He was subsequently taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries. Sadly, he has since died.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A statement issued by Humberside Police this morning has appealed for information:

“Officers are appealing for anyone that witnessed the collision, or that has dashcam footage from driving in the area at the time, to get in touch by calling our non-emergency 101 number quoting log 181 of 8 October.

“Alternatively you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. “
