Scunthorpe PCSO injured as he single-handedly detains quad bike suspect

A brave PCSO was injured as he single-handedly detained a man suspected of stealing a quad bike and drugs offences in Scunthorpe.

The officer spotted the suspect in the Selby Court area on Tuesday afternoon and chased him to a nearby garden, where he held him until back-up arrived.

The 23-year-old suspect remains in Humberside Police custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of class A drugs, theft of a motor vehicle and assaulting an emergency worker.

The investigation was launched after police received a call from a concerned member of the public at 7am that a van had been broken into outside a hotel at Lakeside Park.

The Force was later informed that a silver quad bike had been stolen from the vehicle.

Two further men have also been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs and theft of a motor vehicle.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, theft of motor vehicle and perverting the course of justice.

Both have been released on conditional bail, pending further enquiries.
