Plans to construct a stylish and contemporary water-sports building on Cleethorpes’ North Promenade have been submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council.

If approved in full, the new Ebb & Flo complex will also include a cafe, shop, changing rooms and an external courtyard.

There are also plans to build living accommodation on the second and third floors.

The proposed site is the former Savoy amusement arcade which has already been demolished – it sits on the North Prom between Moon on the Water and vacant public toilets.

Developer James Lockwood of ID Architecture said:

“The proposed building will create a vibrant and exciting mixed-use development that will combine Ebb & Flo’s water-sports activities, a cafe and a flexible first floor venue.”

Ebb & Flo owners Toni and Vince have described the company as “a lifestyle brand offering products and services to inspire wellness and promote sustainability.”

A design statement continues:

“A family run business located on the North Promenade of Cleethorpes.

“They are passionate about sharing their love for the water, beach and outdoors! Whether you want to learn the Stand Up Paddleboarding, kayaking, explore or head out on a hire session – there are plenty of ways to get out on the water and enjoy Cleethorpes from a different point of view.”

Ebb & Flo currently operate from a ground floor unit next to Moon on the Water.

The vacant Savoy site was purchased with a view to expanding the business and providing “a mixed use development offering a full range of watersports, cafe, teaching space and accessible changing facilities to allow everyone to enjoy the water.”

The proposal is currently pending the consideration of North East Lincolnshire Council’s planning department.

A decision is expected later this spring.
