Seven arrested following ‘day of action’ in Scunthorpe

Seven people have been arrested today, Tuesday 6 April 2021, on suspicion of conspiracy to supply a controlled drug, following a day of action in Scunthorpe.

Officers were made aware of concerns around drug-related crime in the Crosby and Park area of Scunthorpe following a series of community engagement events.

As a result,  Humberside Police were able to secure warrants to search seven properties, under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

This included a property on Buckingham Avenue, one on Davy Avenue, one on Sheffield Park Avenue and four on Henderson Avenue.

Seven people have been arrested and several cannabis plants, quantities of cannabis bush and cash have been seized in the process.

Neighbourhood Inspector Rich Mirfin said:

“These concerns were highlighted to us through community engagement work from our local neighbourhood officers and as a result of Humber Talking.

“I would like to thank our local communities for their support  – this information is vital in support of our proactive and collective efforts to tackle these issues.

“Drug dealing and any drug-related crime, or the anti-social behaviour that often comes with it, will absolutely not be tolerated in our communities and we will not hesitate to take enforcement action, like we have today.

“I want to reassure the local community that Humberside Police are committed to taking action to tackle the issues that are hurting our local communities.

“The local Neighbourhood Team, along with our partners from Ongo Homes and North Lincolnshire Council’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, will continue to patrol the area and will work together to ensure that activity such as this does not take place.

“If you have any concerns that these crimes may be taking place in your area, I would encourage you to tell your local team or to call our non-emergency number 101 so that we can take appropriate action against those harming our local residents.”
