Take a look inside the new state-of-the-art MRI suite at Grimsby Hospital

Pictures have been released of the new state-of-the-art MRI suite at Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.

The £8.84m suite is set to open to the public this Spring, following the £1.6 Coastal CT Suite which opened to the public in January.

Jug Johal, Director of Estates and Facilities at the North East Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust, commented previously:

“We are very excited to be almost ready to open our new state of the art MRI Suite at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.

“Both our contractors and hospital project team worked together to ensure both scanners fit through the small hole into the new scanning room.

“The current MRI scanner is 15 years old and we have to rely on mobile scanners, therefore these two new scanners will make a big impact for both staff and patients.”

The new MRI suite is just one of the current developments at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.

The construction of the new Accident & Emergency Department is underway, with full planning permission being granted last month.

A statement from the NHS reads: “The developments on both sites will include new Accident and Emergency departments, complemented by bespoke Acute Assessment Units (AAU).

“These new AAU will be staffed by specialists in a range of conditions and illnesses, allowing patients to be seen and treated more quickly, often without the need to be admitted to a ward.

“Our number one priority is to give patients the best possible care and these works will give our staff the space, equipment and facilities they need to do that.”

Mr Johal said: “Our number one priority is to give you the best possible care and these works will give us the space, equipment and facilities we need to do that, as well as reducing waiting times in A&E and making faster diagnosis by directing patients to specialist clinicians more quickly.

“This is hugely important to us and, to ensure we get this right, we have worked closely with clinical colleagues throughout the design process.”

The £8.84m suite will open to the public this Spring.
