Man charged following discovery of cannabis grow on Hainton Avenue

A 27-year-old man has been charged with the production of cannabis following the discovery of a large cannabis grow on Hainton Avenue in Grimsby.

Humberside Police discovered around 500 plants at the property yesterday, and the man is set to appear at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court today.

The grow was so large that it had been “dangerously abstracting” electricity supply to other properties on the street.

A statement from Humberside Police reads: “Following the discovery of a large cannabis grow at a property on Hainton Avenue, Grimsby, yesterday (Thursday 15 April), a man has been charged.

“The 27-year-old man has been charged with the production of cannabis and is due to appear in Grimsby Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 16 April.

“Officers discovered approximately 500 plants inside the property, which had also been dangerously abstracting electricity from the street. The plants were seized and electricity made safe, so there is no wider risk to those living in the area.”
