Grimsby Town FC running shirt amnesty for fans of ‘big six’ Premier League teams

Grimsby Town FC have introduced a shirt amnesty for those who hold shirts of the English clubs that have joined the new controversial European Super League.

Those who hold a shirt from Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham or Chelsea have the opportunity to surrender it in return for a 2020/2021 replica Grimsby Town shirt of their choice.

The English teams are among 12 teams to have joined the league, in a move that has been condemned by FIFA and UEFA.

The football organisations have said that they won’t be supporting the league, and that all players involved would be banned from all other competitions on a national, European or world level.

They also said the players involved could be stopped from representing their national teams.

All shirts that are surrendered in exchange for a GTFC shirt will be donated to local youth groups and humanitarian projects in Africa.

A statement from Grimsby Town FC reads: “Without fans, football and Grimsby Town Football Club are nothing. We would like to thank you for the fantastic support you have provided us this season and we cannot wait to welcome you back to Blundell Park as soon as possible.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is one of the public figures to be condemning the new European Super League.

Shirts of the Premier League clubs in question can be exchanged in the Club Shop or Mariners Trust Bar between 10am and 4pm on weekdays and varying times over the weekend.
