Hull City Council election results announced

The results of this year’s Hull local election have been counted and are now being announced at the Bonus Arena.

The count usually takes place overnight after polling stations close.

However, this year’s count took place on Friday morning instead.

According to Hull City Council, this is because the election is being held in three sessions at the Bonus Arena, the city’s largest venue, rather than the Guildhall, in order to meet covid restrictions.

The following results have already been announced:

Newington & Gipsyville Ward, Labour hold, Cllr Tracy Dearing.

Bricknell Ward, Labour gain, Peter North, previously held by the Conservatives.

Derringham Ward, Lib Dem hold, David Woods.

St Andrew’s & Docklands Ward, Labour hold, Daren Hale.

Avenue Ward, Lib Dem hold, John Robinson.

Boothferry Ward: Lib Dem hold, Alison Collinson.

The turnout in Hull is 42,066, which 24.1% of the eligible electorate.
