Residents report hearing ‘shots’ in Doncaster

Following a series of shootings over the last week, residents living in Wheatley, Doncaster, have reported hearing further ‘shots’ fired at around 11pm last night.

South Yorkshire Police have been approached to confirm the details.

If correct, this incident in the Bristol Grove / Exeter Road area is the latest in a series of recent gun attacks.

On April 12 shots were heard on Maple Avenue, Cantley.

On May 6, this was followed by a group of people wielding weapons launching an attack at house in Aldesworth Road – the same property was set alight on May 18.

Then, last Sunday, shots were fired at a house on the corner of Winchester Avenue and Thorne Road.

A few days later, on Thursday, Barnby Dun Road was closed off after shots were fired at a house and vehicle.

The incidents of violence, which officers have confirmed are connected, have resulted in a 30-year-old man being seriously injured in an alleged shooting.

Graham Del Mar, 52, of Aldesworth Road, has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

A 15-year-old boy and two men aged 18 and 27, were also arrested, but have been released.

Updates to follow.
