Police issue response after man spotted with an axe at Cleethorpes pub
Humberside Police have issued a response following reports that a man had enetered a Cleethorpes pub with an axe.
Last night (24 January) reports came flooding in that armed police had swarmed The Swashbuckle tavern in Cleethorpes.
A witness told Gi Media that a man entered the pub “holding a hand axe” yesterday evening.
Bar staff rang the police immediately, who showed up “straight away”. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.
Now, police have released a statement following the shocking ordeal.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers were in attendance on Bethlehem Street, Grimsby at approximately 3:40pm yesterday (Monday 24 January).
“It is reported that a man had entered a business premise in possession of a weapon and is believed to have caused damage to furnishings.
“Thankfully, nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
“A 28-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage at a venue on Grant Street, Cleethorpes.
“He remains in police custody whilst we continue with lines of enquiry.
“We are now appealing for anyone with any information to contact us on our non-emergency number quoting log 272 of 24 January.”
