Decline in North Lincolnshire Covid cases slows

The decline in North Lincolnshire Covid cases is slowing down as experts are growing concerned about the new Omicron subvariant spreading across the globe.

The current case rate for North Lincolnshire stands at 976 cases per 100,000 people.

In the seven days from Friday 21 to Thursday 27 January, North Lincolnshire Covid cases declined with 1,655 people confirmed to have a positive Covid-19 test, a decrease of -10.9 percent compared to the previous seven days.

In response to the imminent rise in figures, supermarkets like Sainsbury’s have announced that they will continue to encourage people to wear face masks in their stores, despite the end of Plan B restrictions yesterday.

The Government continues to urge people to receive their booster vaccines to prevent another wave.

Government data shows that, by the end of Wednesday 26 January, 131,589 people in North Lincolnshire had been given their first vaccine, 123,070 people had been given their second dose and 98,447 people had been given their third.

Despite North Lincolnshire’s Covid cases being on the decline recently, between Monday 17 and Sunday 23 January, 58 people were admitted into a local hospital.

The total amount of patients currently in Northern Lincolnshire and Goole hospitals with coronavirus now stands at 99 (as of Tuesday 25 January).

Reports suggest that the unvaccinated are eight times more likely to be admitted into hospital compared to those who have been vaccinated.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics also indicate that double-vaccinated individuals have less of a chance of catching long Covid – a decrease of 41.1 percent.

Nevertheless, over the last seven days, there have been nine deaths in North Lincolnshire within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.

However, recent reports have claimed that more than half of Covid patients in England’s hospitals are primarily being treated for a different condition.
