Mason Greenwood held for extra questioning
Mason Greenwood, who was arrested following allegations for rape and assault, is now being held for additional questioning.
The 20-year-old Manchester United footballer was taken into custody on Sunday the 30th of January after the allegation went viral on social media.
Greater Manchester Police have stated that Mason Greenwood will remain in custody pending further investigation.
The forced added: “Detectives have been granted additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who is being held on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman.”
“Inquiries are ongoing and the victim is being offered specialist support.”
Manchester United have subsequently removed ‘Mason Greenwood’ branded merchandise from their online store.
The club have confirmed that he will not return to training or playing for matches ‘until further notice.’
Additionally, Nike has suspended their relationship with the footballer following a statement reading:
“We have suspended our relationship with Mason Greenwood.
“We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
