Police update after Grimsby businessman left critically injured

Lincolnshire Police have issued an update following an incident which left a popular local businessman critically injured.

Harvey Shaw, who is the Store Manager at Grimsby Carpet Warehouse (GCW) was attacked at around 12:30am on Saturday the 5th of February while celebrating his birthday at the Brackenborough Hotel.

The suspect is said to have punched Harvey, resulting in a fall and a blow to the head.

The father-of-two is now being treated at hospital for a bleed on the brain.

Those responsible are said to have fled the scene shortly after the altercation occurred.

Following a widely shared media appeal, the person responsible has handed themselves in.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “One man was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious.

“One man, aged 34, was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released under investigation.

“A second man, aged 37, was interviewed under caution and has been reported for an offence of ABH (assault causing actual bodily harm.)”

The investigation is ongoing.

The family said: “Your support and well wishes have been incredible and we can’t thank you enough.

“Harvey is still in hospital and we would appreciate some privacy during this difficult time.”
