Holly Mumby-Croft ‘thanks’ Boris Johnson for his commitment to Scunthorpe

The MP for Scunthorpe has thanked Boris Johnson for his commitment to the town in her recent statement.

Holly Mumby-Croft has issued multiple media statements and even appeared on BBC Look North following Boris Johnson’s resignation.

Now, the Scunthorpe MP has issued an updated statement to Gi Scunthorpe News, in which she thanked the ex-Tory leader for his commitment to our town.

Holly began by acknowledging the diverse opinions that some will be experiencing following Boris’ resignation, stating “for some this is welcome news, others may be deeply disappointed,” adding:

“Personally, I supported Boris as leader of the Conservative Party, and he’s done a lot for us here in Scunthorpe that I thank him for.

“Sadly it did became clear that his leadership could not continue, I understand why he stepped down and I think it was right under the circumstances.

“We now must decide who will become our next leader and Prime Minister. As I decide who will get my vote in each round, the only question is who will be best for Scunthorpe.

“I’m not doing deals or trying to secure a government role, as residents know I recently turned down a role as a government PPS to continue concentrating on our local issues. My only concern in this process is who would be the best person for the job!

“We’ve had some great support locally over the last two years. My first priority has always been, and always will be, fighting for our interests.

“Residents can rest assured all the candidates are given a good grilling on our priorities before they get my vote!”
