Turnbull weighs in on Scunthorpe’s transfer situation
Lee Turnbull has issued a fresh statement in which he addresses the current transfer situation.
Keith Hill has been extremely open about the difficulties signing and retaining talent following the Iron’s relegation from the English Football League.
In a recent statement, the Scunthorpe gaffer stated he would remain “patient” whilst believing he could still deliver new additions to further bolster his roster before the National League campaign kicks off next month.
As promised, Hill managed to sign an array of talent across the field ahead of the Iron’s first home pre-season fixture against Sheffield United.
Kgosi Ntlhe has returned to the club on a 6-month deal, a defender who previously made 21 appearances with Scunthorpe. Hill described the 28-year-old as a player who he “could trust.”
A talented young keeper from Sheffield United has also joined the Iron. 21-year-old Marcus Dewhurst will “fight for the number one shirt,” Hill stated before confirming the ex-blades goalkeeper will receive a “platform to establish himself,” a notion that evidences Hill’s open-minded head space going into new territory (National League football).
Scunthorpe also acquired Colin Daniel, Andrew Boyce and Elliott Whitehouse to further strengthen the Iron boss’ squad.
Then in today’s statement, Lee Turnbull, Scunthorpe United Chairman, said:
“We still have a couple of players in the building looking to secure deals, namely vastly experienced midfielder Jacob Butterfield and exciting young winger Kevan Kahoussi.”
Lee told how Hill is “working hard” to secure additional signings, adding:
“He is still keen to strengthen the squad whilst still being mindful of there being a pathway for our young players to gain first team experience and progress their careers.”
