Parking wardens return to duty in Grimsby and Cleethorpes

Full parking enforcement restarts in Grimsby

Parking wardens return to duty in Grimsby and Cleethorpes

Parking wardens have returned to work to ensure the safety and compliance of traffic restrictions in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
This follows a move by North East Lincolnshire Council to enforce strict parking restrictions along Cleethorpes’ promenade.
Parking wardens have returned to their duties patrolling the streets and car parks across North East Lincolnshire after the Government changed its guidelines allowing residents to travel for exercise and has been encouraging people to return to work if they cannot work from home.
As a result, there are now more cars parking and driving on the streets of North East Lincolnshire than in previous weeks.
Now, civil enforcement officers have returned to work to ensure the safety of all residents, and compliance with traffic restrictions.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn said:
“At the start of this pandemic, we eased civil enforcement restrictions to support the local community, volunteers and key workers in being able to park close to where they need to be for an unlimited amount of time and for free.
“We will continue to allow this for NHS and health & social care workers displaying the correct exemption slips in their vehicle’s windscreen. Any of these workers who may receive a PCN should be encouraged and supported to appeal, with supporting evidence of their work.
“However, as we see more traffic return to our streets, we need to ensure that the roads keep moving smoothly and that local residents and businesses are able to park where they need to as restrictions are eased.
“Additionally, we must make sure that vehicles, including emergency services, can get around the area uninterrupted and pedestrians have the room available to support social distancing.”
