Cannabis factory discovered in Scunthorpe

On Saturday officers executing a warrant at an address on West Street, Scunthorpe discovered a cannabis factory.

The operation was spread across multiple rooms at the address.

According to a social media report by the Humberside Police’s Operation Galaxy team, the plants have been seized and investigations are continuing.

One local responded:

“Thank you – fantastic police work!”

Another added:

“Well done. Another one bites the dust.”

The find is part of ongoing action to tackle and target criminals across the Humberside Force area who are causing harm to local communities.

In the first 8 weeks of Operation Galaxy, the team made almost 800 arrests, carried out 153 warrants and brought 263 charges for various offences.

An approx street value of £5m in drugs, predominately cannabis from factories discovered through warrants, has been discovered and seized.

This includes large quantities of drugs seized include cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

Last weekend, Operation Galaxy carried out high-visibility patrols in hotspot areas to tackle antisocial behaviour and other crimes.

Officers have also been conducting arrest attempts for outstanding suspects wanted on prison recall or for offences such as failing to appear at court.

A statement added:

“The teams have started the week with a bang, carrying out nine warrants this morning across the force area. As a result of these warrants we have brought seven people into custody as well as recovering four suspected stolen motorbikes.”
