Brightening Keelby aims to do just that

The group based in Keelby hopes to tidy up the community and bring a sense of pride.

They have recently shown their support for Ukraine by making blankets, hats, and gloves- they also make sunflowers.

In the community garden, there is evidence of crafts and flowers, with a wide variety.

The garden can be seen with the colours of Ukraine’s national flag.

“Brightening Keelby is a community group of volunteers who litter pick, clean the village brighten the area with art craft, and flowers. We have been going for 12 years .”.

The group is heavily engaged with the community and decorates all around the area.

They are responsible for the commemorative ‘Tommy’ figures that can be seen around the village.

It is referred to as the ‘Tommy’ project, however, one of the figures was vandalized last month.

“We have ongoing projects, the community garden which we are currently fundraising for target £2500”

They have reportedly earned £300 so far for the project.

In the area, the group has also reportedly had planters stolen and vandalized.

“We are trying hard to Brighten the village and these setbacks slow our progress and cost money we are raising for other areas of the village”

The group hopes to continue to raise money to support their current and ongoing projects.
