Person taken to hospital for treatment following e-scooter collision

Humberside Police have put out a post on social media for information regarding a collision that took place yesterday.

A collision took place involving an e-scooter and a Yamaha motorbike yesterday evening (May 9).

The collision took place at a junction on Carnforth Crescent and Cromer Avenue, with one person being taken to hospital for treatment for injuries received from the collision.

Police are looking for witnesses to come forward regarding the incident.

The post stated:”Officers investigating a road-traffic collision in Grimsby are appealing for witnesses to come forwards.

“It was reported that a green Yamaha motorbike and an electric scooter collided at the junction of Carnforth Crescent and Cromer Avenue, Grimsby, just after 7:00pm yesterday (Monday 9 May).

“One person was taken to hospital for treatment on injuries to their leg and collarbone.

“If anyone witnessed this incident, or has information that may assist with our investigations, you can contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 500 of 9 May.”

Safer Roads Humber have previosuly issued advice on e-scooters following a series of incidents.

They said: “Whilst you can legally buy an e-scooter, it is against the law to ride your own scooter on the road, cycle lane or pavement.

“If stopped by the police, they could seize the e-scooter and you could get a fine and points on your driving licence.”

The force is reminding parents to educate their children about the laws surrounding e-scooters before they are allowed to ride them.

Privately owned scooters can only be used on private land with the permission of the landowner.
