A notorious Grimsby thief who was previously found hiding from police in a bush with almost £70 worth of meat, is behind bars again.

On previous occasions, Aiden Gornall, 32, was caught with stolen meat amounting to £320.

He has also been caught using threatening behaviour when stealing from Next in Grimsby, and from JD Sports in Scunthorpe, where he took clothes valued at £138.

Having breached his licence, Gornall has appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court once again.

He admitted stealing meat, valued at £70, from Lincolnshire Cooperative in Grimsby on August 4.

Gornall previously served eight weeks of a prison sentence which closely followed several other jail terms that had been imposed on him in recent weeks and months.

The court heard how on a previous occasion, Gornall had attempted to evade police capture by leading officers on a chase through Grimsby town centre.

He jumped over a wall onto train tracks, before being found hiding in bushes.

Following his most recent spate of crime, the defendant was handed another sentence of 16 weeks for offences including breach of licence, theft and violent crime.
